After the Service Desk: Promotional Tools, Templates and Ways to Connect
Interim Support Before the Brand Hub
—From the desk of Maggie Keczan, Director of Communications & Public Engagement
Hello, Selkirk College Community,
I've shared that we're evolving some workflows in Marketing & Communications (Marcom). We will focus on institutional marketing. We will also empower and support schools, departments and areas to promote events, projects and programming. It's a return to how we used to do things.
Closing the Service Desk: What You Need to Know
The Marcom Service Desk will officially close on Tuesday, June 24.
We are preparing to launch a Brand Hub—complete with tools, templates and support—in mid-August. To ensure a smooth transition, we've put interim support in place.
Interim Support: MySelkirk Resources
Until the Brand Hub launches, you can continue to access templates and tools via MySelkirk. You'll find links to key forms so you can connect with us about:
- Service disruption notices (e.g., cafeteria or bookstore closures)
- Internal communications (for the employee newsletter)
- Basic web edits (event listings and minor updates)
We will transition these forms to the Brand Hub later this summer.
What's the Brand Hub?
The Brand Hub will be your new go-to destination for all things Marcom. It will make creating, sharing and managing promotional content easier while staying aligned with Selkirk College's refreshed brand.
Here's what you'll find:
- Branded templates: Ready-to-use materials for course packs, posters, social media, presentations and more—no design experience needed
- Photo library: A curated collection of high-quality, brand-aligned images
- Guides and toolkits: Step-by-step instructions for workflows, using templates effectively and more
- Two-way engagement forms: Submit service disruptions, internal news, achievements/awards to highlight, student profiles and more
- Training and drop-ins: Regular sessions to help you get the most out of the tools and build confidence in your communications
Promo Rangers: Your Communications Champions
Each school or department should now have a designated promo ranger who is your go-to person for promotions. Promo rangers will:
- Use Canva templates to create branded materials
- Make minor website edits (like event listings)
- Liaise with Marcom to ensure brand alignment
- Receive training and support to help your area shine
If your area doesn't yet have a promo ranger, we encourage you to identify someone soon.
Why This Matters
This isn't just a change in tools—it's a shift in how we work together. By decentralizing and empowering our teams, we can:
- Tell more diverse and authentic stories from across the college
- Protect and strengthen our brand identity
- Work more efficiently and strategically
What's Next?
- Check the newsletter: We'll continue sharing updates, training dates and highlights throughout the summer
- Explore the tiers: Know which promotions are Marcom-led, collaborative or self-serve
- Use the interim tools: MySelkirk is your resource hub until the Brand Hub launches
- Ask questions: Your feedback helps us improve—reach out anytime or use the feedback form
Thank you for your continued partnership and enthusiasm. Together, we're building a communications culture that's collaborative, creative and driven by community.
With gratitude,
Maggie
