Introducing Our New Logo: A Bold Step Forward for Selkirk College
A Fresh Look Rooted in Land, Learning and Legacy
—From the desk of Maggie Keczan, Director, Communications & Public Engagement
Hello Selkirk College Team,
I’m excited to share that Selkirk College has officially selected a refreshed logo and visual identity—an important milestone in our journey to bring the new strategic plan, Land, Learning & Legacy: Our Path to 2040, to life. The Selkirk College Board of Governors initiated this project over two years ago as part of the strategic plan renewal.
The Logo

This new logo is more than a visual update. It’s a reflection of who we are and where we’re going. Grounded in our connection to land and community, the design symbolizes growth, achievement and forward momentum. You’ll notice elements like graduation caps, mountain peaks and an abstract larch tree—all woven together to represent our students’ journeys and our region’s natural identity.
We are finalizing the brand style guide, including colour use, and will share it later this summer.
The refresh was shaped by input from across the college community, including over 500 consultations during the strategic planning process.
A cross-functional project team, including employees from across the college and a Selkirk College Board of Governors representative, worked closely with our creative partners at Bravo Tango to ensure the final design is accessible, inclusive and aligned with our values.
Why It Matters
- It supports our goal of standing out in a competitive post-secondary landscape
- It reflects our commitment to sustainability, innovation and reconciliation
- It empowers all of us to tell Selkirk College’s story with clarity and pride
Brand Hub
To support the rollout of our new visual identity, we’re launching a new Brand Hub this fall. This web-based resource will be your go-to destination for everything you need to promote Selkirk College with confidence and consistency.
Here’s what you’ll find in the Brand Hub:
- Templates for presentations, posters, reports and social media
- Photo assets and a workflow to ensure consent and accessibility
- Guides on logo usage, colour palettes, typography and tone
- FAQs, procedures and training materials to support your team’s transition
The Brand Hub will support all employees—regardless of design experience—to create professional, on-brand materials quickly and effectively. It’s part of our broader shift to empower schools and departments to lead their own promotions while aligning with our institutional marketing strategy.
Promo Rangers
To help bring the new brand to life across the college, each area will designate a “promo ranger”—a point person who will work closely with the Marketing & Communications team through a community of practice.
Promo rangers will coordinate promotional efforts within their departments, ensure alignment with brand standards, and act as a liaison for training, templates and support. This team has access to additional functionality, including creating event listings on selkirk.ca, making minor website edits and creating branded promotional materials within the Canva platform.
What’s Next
- A phased rollout across digital and print platforms will begin later this summer
- Brand guidelines and training will be available through the Brand Hub
- Schools and departments will be provided with refreshed materials, including pull-up banners, school flyers, service area posters and program postcards
- Merchandising guidelines and a catalogue of pre-approved items (promotional giveaways, branded apparel, etc.) will be available throughout the fall in a more streamlined approach that supports our commitment to sustainability
Start Planning
As we move into this next phase, we encourage all departments and teams to begin identifying materials that can be updated over the coming year. Whether it’s educational materials, email signatures, letterhead, internal memos, event signage, PowerPoint presentations or digital content—this is a great opportunity to align your materials with our refreshed identity.
We’ll support this transition with templates, training and guidance to make the process smooth and sustainable. A thoughtful, low-waste rollout will reflect our shared commitment to consistency and care.
This refreshed identity is a collective achievement—and a strategic tool to help us attract students, build community and inspire changemakers.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this process. I can’t wait to see how we bring it to life together.
With gratitude,
Maggie Keczan
