Making Printing More Efficient

—From the desks of Nick Howald, CIO, and Donna Drover, Director of Facilities and Business Services

In 2024, Selkirk College spent $21,949 on paper, printing over 2 million sheets across 113 printers throughout our campuses. The college used almost 4,000 packages of paper—a considerable environmental and financial footprint that we are committed to reducing as part of our sustainability efforts.

To address this, Selkirk College is making strategic changes to improve printing efficiency and reliability across all campuses. Working closely with the Procurement and Sustainability departments, we will relocate some printers to more accessible and efficient locations.

Our goals are:

  • Ensure better access for everyone
  • Improve workflow for staff and students
  • Support sustainability initiatives
  • Cut overall printing costs for the college

These changes demonstrate our ongoing commitment to providing reliable services while reducing our environmental impact. By optimizing our printing infrastructure, we are taking tangible steps toward a more sustainable campus.

We will begin the consultation process in the New Year. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Tracy King. We are happy to help.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together toward a greener future at Selkirk College. This initiative aligns with the college's sustainability objectives.
