Shaping Our Campuses Together: Introducing the Campus Master Plan Roadmap

Share Your Perspective

—From the desk of Donna Drover, Director of Facilities and Business Services

We invite you to be part of something meaningful at Selkirk College this spring.

This month, we’re launching an internal consultation process to shape and update the Campus Master Plan: a long-term framework that will guide how we invest in, develop and care for our physical campuses for years to come.

This work builds on initiatives already underway across our campuses, from accessibility improvements, interior finishes and landscape planning to the ongoing Indigenization of our physical spaces. These projects reflect the same values that will guide the updated plan.

A Proposal Worth Exploring Together

We’ve prepared a Campus Master Plan Strategic Roadmap to help us chart our path and guide consultation. The heart of the update is a proposal to concentrate our efforts on the three campuses we own: Silver King in Nelson, Castlegar and Trail. By focusing our investments where they can have the most meaningful and lasting impact, we have an opportunity to strengthen our campuses, enrich the student experience and support more vibrant campus communities.

The goal of this consultation is to explore this possibility. This is a proposal, not a predetermined outcome, and your perspective will genuinely shape what comes next.

This consultation will look at what a move to three owned campuses would mean for the people and programs currently at Tenth Street and Grand Forks. We want to be clear: The employees and students at both locations are a valued part of the Selkirk College community, and that won’t change. The Grand Forks Campus lease has recently been renewed for five years, ensuring continuity there for the foreseeable future. A five-year lease for the Tenth Street Campus with the City of Nelson is also currently being renewed, with a finalized agreement expected by July 2026, ensuring stability and continuity while the consultation process unfolds. For Tenth Street, the current direction under consideration is the transition of programs to Silver King or other locations within our campus network. This process would involve collaboratively developing timelines, ensuring careful planning and providing consistent support throughout.

Your Perspective Shapes What Comes Next

The roadmap we're sharing is a working document, not a finished plan. It captures the strategic thinking underway and the initiatives already in motion—and now it’s ready to be shaped by your input.

Consultation sessions have begun, and more dates are being scheduled. Stay tuned for more information and upcoming dates! We encourage everyone to engage and make their perspective part of this process. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Donna Drover.
