Supporting Mental Health and Resilience
This week is World Mental Health Day, a global initiative that highlights the importance of mental health as essential to our overall wellbeing and resilience. Taking time to care for our emotional health helps us adapt to stress, maintain balance and build stronger connections with others.
Selkirk College offers several confidential supports to assist employees and their families:
- Homewood Health–Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP): Free, confidential counselling and professional support for employees and their immediate family members. Access is available 24/7 for personal, family, and work-related concerns.
- Guard.me Therapeutic Coaching (available until October 31): Free, confidential therapeutic coaching sessions are available through Guard.me until the end of October.
- Manulife Counselling Benefits: Employees enrolled in Manulife benefits may have coverage for counselling with a licensed professional. Review your benefits booklet and search for “psychologist,” “counsellor,” “counselor” or “social worker” to confirm your coverage details.
- Teladoc Health: Employees enrolled in Manulife are also eligible to access Teladoc Health, which can provide guidance to support making progress on mental health conditions.
Supporting your mental health is an essential part of building resilience—for yourself, your relationships and our community.
