How did you make your way to the Selkirk College Board of Governors?

I was invited to consider joining the Selkirk College Board of Governors by Ken Wyllie, a current board member. Following a thoughtful conversation with Margaret Sutherland, who was then serving as chair, I felt a strong alignment between the board’s mission and my personal commitment to community service. That inspired me to apply to become a governor on the Selkirk College board.

Tell us about one of your favourite Selkirk College moments.

Although I’m still new to the board and excited to create memorable experiences in this role, one of my favourite Selkirk College moments dates back to my time as a student in 2019. After breaking my leg and relying on a wheelchair for several months, I was deeply moved by the support and care I received from the college staff and faculty.

Their kindness and accommodations made a challenging time much easier, and it truly reinforced the strong sense of community that defines Selkirk College.

What's the best advice you've ever received?

The best advice I ever received was, "To have it all, you have to do it all."

What's something you enjoy doing outside of serving the college?

I enjoy cooking, reading, solo road trips and stand-up comedy shows.
