Meet Jen Grieve

Jen Grieve, Welcome Centre Receptionist

Jen Grieve

Jen Grieve connected with Brier Albano to talk about life at Selkirk College and beyond.

How did you make your way to Selkirk College?

I moved home from Ontario after working in vet med for a long time. I got an on-call position at the Trail Campus and then a year after that, I got the full-time position at the Welcome Centre in Castlegar.

Describe one of your favourite Selkirk College moments.

Every time we have the intercultural fair, I love it! It's the one day I get to see the students and the stress off their shoulders! I see everyone just dancing and having a blast. And, of course, the food smells amazing!

What's the best advice you ever received?

"If it won't matter in five years, don't spend five minutes worrying about it." Advice from my grandma.

What is something you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love reading and baking. I spent the last year working on my new house—I don't love the work that much, but I love the finished product. I also started fostering puppies. It takes up a lot of time and energy, but I love it.

Please share a non-work-related recommendation! Let us know one of your favourite shows, albums, books—or your preferred treat from the cafeteria.

I recommend the second and third books in the ACOTAR (A Court of Thorns and Roses) series by Sarah J. Mass, which always bring me out of a reading slump! The first book in the series is a bit hard to get through but two and three are great!
