Meadow Johnston 2025

How did you make your way to Selkirk College?

I did the Business Administration Program and then applied for an on-call position as soon as I finished. I've been here since!

Describe one of your favourite Selkirk College moments.

Convocation is always very special. It's a lot of work to get to that point behind the scenes, but it's such a special day for grads. Seeing their reactions and emotions is pretty amazing—a good reminder why we're here, for sure!

What's the best advice you ever received?

When I was growing up, my mom was/is always good at putting yourself in someone else's shoes and trying to understand where they are coming from. Having empathy for others—someone from another country, just anyone!

What is something you enjoy doing outside of work?

I like being outside in nature, checking out events in the community and hanging with friends and family.

Please share a non-work-related recommendation! Let us know one of your favourite shows, albums, books—or your preferred treat from the cafeteria.

There are so many places to check in our area—you talk about doing it, then you don't. Even if you're not a skier, just going up to one of the resorts and having some food, seeing the snow—you don't have to be a skier to enjoy that. Going across the ferry to Crawford Bay and seeing the beaches there. It's great.
