Budget Development Process

Provide Your Input

The budget development process outlines how we prepare the annual budget and identifies opportunities to provide input and feedback.

Background and Environment

The college budget allocates resources to deliver programs and services and to operate the college, meeting our commitments to students, employees, communities, partners, and funding and regulatory agencies. There are two types of budgets: annual operating budgets and capital budgets.

The budget process identifies:

  • Capacity and service-level gaps.
  • Resource allocations that meet those gaps to the greatest extent possible and that sustain positive and measurable impact on learners.
  • Opportunities for increased revenue, operational savings, growth and innovation.

2026–2027 Budget Development Process

A reduction in international tuition remains a significant challenge for the college. We are actively planning a framework for mitigating another year with a projected deficit.

It is important for all employees to be aware that the 2026–2027 budget will be extremely challenging and will require a range of approaches and innovative solutions to reduce costs while increasing grants and revenues.

We need everyone to continue the spirit of cooperation, innovation and intrapreneurship to help us achieve a balanced budget.

Timeframes and Process

We should know the final government funding commitment for 2026–2027 by April 2026. Based on the current year’s actual funding level, the 2026–2027 budget will be finalized and presented to the board of governors for approval at the March 2026 meeting.
