Ergonomics

Fitting the Task to the Worker

Minimize the Risk of Injuries at Work

Ergonomics play an important role in our safety and well-being by fitting the task to the worker to maximize productivity while reducing discomfort, fatigue, and injury.

The proper ergonomic design of our workspaces can provide you with a greater focus in your day-to-day work activities, and can minimize the risk of a wide range of injuries – from eyestrain and carpal tunnel syndrome to persistent neck or back discomfort.

Design and Purchasing Guidelines (Standard Equipment)

Incorporate ergonomics in the design phase of your department to optimize work and reduce risk of injury.

Ergonomic Assessments

Step 1. Talk to your supervisor

If you are experiencing discomfort or difficulties when working at your computer this should be brought forward to the attention of your supervisor. Resources may be available within your department without requiring an assessment.

Step 2. Request an Ergonomic Assessment

Email Health & Safety to set up an assessment or learn more. You will be required to complete a Ergonomic Pre-Assessment Form prior to the assessment.

Department Workshops

We are pleased to offer an ergonomic assessment workshop for entire departments. This comprehensive session aims to enhance the well-being and productivity of the team by addressing ergonomic considerations.

We then can provide additional one-on-one assessments for individuals who may require personalized attention. Your team's comfort and efficiency is our priority. Supervisors are encouraged to reach out to schedule a session by emailing Health & Safety.
