Supporting Students with Disabilities
Each of you will have students with disabilities in your classes or accessing your services. As with all students, students with disabilities have diverse learning backgrounds, educational goals, and personal characteristics, in addition to their disability related situation.
Some will choose to disclose their disability and to access academic accommodations by registering with Accessibility Services. Others may choose to do so only later in the semester, may not know what supports are available, or may choose not to identify as a student with a disability.
In any of these cases, knowing about our duty to provide an accessible learning environment for students with disabilities, and learning about how to support diverse learners in your classroom, will help you in supporting each of your student's educational goals.
