As an academic institution, Selkirk College fosters a culture of lifelong learning.

While we may all be very familiar with the formal learning that takes place in our classrooms, Selkirk College also supports and encourages individual professional development and organizational effectiveness for employees.

We are committed to supporting the professional development of all employees, and to creating opportunities for reflective learning that engages and benefits the mind, for all members of our organization. There are a wide variety of activities, we invite you to explore and find the resources best suited to your learning needs and discuss with your supervisor.

Professional Development Application

If you are having difficulty with this document, try doing the following steps:

  1. If you save the pdf and open it up with Adobe Acrobat Reader, you should have no problems filling it out and saving it.
  2. If you click on the link in Firefox and it opens in the browser, how it functions depends on your Firefox configuration. By default, Firefox has a build in pdf preview that doesn't allow you to use pdf forms very well.

Your options are:

    1. Download the pdf by right clicking on the link and selecting "Save link as" and save it to your computer.
    2. Adjust your firefox settings to not use the built-in preview application and have it use Acrobat Reader.

To do this go to Tools, Options

  • Click the Applications item -- in the search box type pdf.
  • You will see under Content Type Heading -- Portable Document Format (PDF).
  • Under the Action Heading, click the down arrow and select Use Adobe Acrobat.
